It is like a thin card that is being installed in the PCMCIA slot of the processing unit . PCI adapters, on the other hand, is commonly used in desktop systems. Built with an antenna that receives wireless signals, they are inserted into the PCI expansion slots of the CPU. Lastly, USB wireless adapters are plugged, obviously, into the USB port of computers.
